Day 0 – Goodbye 9 to 5

January 17th, 2022. It’s 11:45 PM, I just brought my 2-year-old son to the bed. It used to be a challenge for me at first but daily repetition has made it become a routine that now feels as natural as breathing. It’s an integral part of my day and it just feels good doing it.

The feeling of loving what I do is what I miss most in my current day-to-day job. For the past 18 years, I was working in the software development industry. I still love the craft but the spirit it once had has faded away a long time ago. My interests and priorities in life have changed since I started working there and it doesn’t feel right to continue that way. I want to start working on my own projects, the things I care about, doing what I love doing.

A good level of comfort at my current job was holding me back for years to jump off the cliff and start pursuing what really matters to me. I can’t tell for sure what has triggered me today to sit down around midnight and just start typing, writing down some notes on what to do next. Whatever changed my mind today, I’m grateful and happy it happened today.

Because I want to become better at writing anyways, I made the decision to start this blog.

The plan is to write daily for the next 365 days and turn it into a routine task as well.

Let’s make it happen.

See you tomorrow.
